Don’t Mind If is an independent ground-up initiative that seeks to understand, demystify and uplift the communication design industry.

Run by industry volunteers, it is designed to be a community effort and seeks to put the collective interests of the initiative above that of any one person or group.

Meeting on volunteered time since mid-2019, the team comprises of creative professionals who share an interest and passion for the future of the communications design industry and community in Singapore. We work across the creative field as employees, freelance professionals, employers & students of the local communications design industry.

Some initiatives we’ve embarked on:

  • Don’t Mind If I Ask

Launched in 2020, Don’t Mind if I Ask is an independent inquiry on the wellbeing of the communication design industry through crowd-sourced data. Capturing 506 responses from Employers, Employees, Freelancers, Students and Fresh Graduates of our community, the data was consolidated, analysed and released back to the public. You can find out more about the initiative here. It is our hope for these objective industry insights to help us all understand more about the community we live & work within.

  • Don't Mind If I Ask

The Inaugural Report is a book about the lessons we learnt from asking the communication design industry how they were doing. The book contains insights & letters for the communication design industry & community. You can find out more and purchase the book here. Being a tiny team working with limited resources, the proceeds from the book will be channelled to fund other initiatives to support and uplift the community.

    Alter-native: An Open Conversation

Working with the insights from Don’t Mind If I Ask where respondents repeatedly requested for more networking opportunities and platforms for open conversation, we worked with DesignSingapore Council to organise a panel discussion with members of the communication design industry. As to ensure that the session is inclusive and diverse as much as possible, the panel members come from different backgrounds and levels of experience. You can find out more about the event here.
